Dip Stations

Dip stations are simple benches, especially the free-standing dip station: a wide stand, two-post steel frame, and two horizontal arms with rubber-coated grip handles. With the basic dip station, this is all that is necessary, but more sophisticated creations have come into being which feature many functions in one. These are multi purpose dip stations and include more: square tubing, chrome, aluminum, or stainless steel; foldable seat; two parallel pull up bars; and extended arms with stylish rubber or Neoprene non-slip grip coverings. Dip station attachments even enhance performance and appearance, such as weight belts and wrist straps, the latter of which would increase success on a pullup dip station or a bar dip station.

The parallel dip station, of course, another name for the pull up station, is especially engineered for development on both dips and chins. Station construction is solid, so these and other exercises are safe to conduct. Dip station exercises are of a variety on the multi purpose models; not only are dips easily performed, so are chin ups (“chins” for short), chest building, deltoid flexes, bicep and tricep strengthening, vertical knee raises, and leg lifts serving to tighten abdominal muscle groups. The more sophisticated dip station, then, is design to work the entire upper body.

Dip stations are easy to use, except if users are unable to lift the amount of weight equal to or in excess of their own body content. Some suggestions for preparing one to use a dip station successfully include doing bench dips, which involves stretching out astride of a basic utility bench with hands gripping the bench at waist width from behind, and then lowering oneself to the floor/mat in the seated position and then pulling oneself back up with only the hands. This gets the arms strong enough to handle body weight before moving onto the dip station. Even an apparatus as simple as the dip station requires some preparation, especially for beginners.

Many online vendors specializing in exercise equipment offer many styles and brands of dip stations, depending, like anything else, what a particular buyer needs. Among the brands available are: Gold’s Gym benches, Weider Pro Power stations, Phoenix and Body Solid multi purpose towers, and Pro-Form Dip Assist Stations. Prices are reasonable but sales and the occasional discount deal do offer cheap dip stations for those hoping to save money.

Regardless of whether or not one wants only a basic dip station or a multi purpose dip assist tower, the benefits generally outweigh those of other types of workout benches. Quality and satisfaction are contingent on personal preferences and needs, and dip stations of all kinds are easily able to meet those challenges.
