Olympic Benches
Olympic benches are a special breed of weight-lifting equipment today. They feature multi purpose system of pulleys and extensions to facilitate a variety of exercises, general and specialized. The Olympic multi purpose weight bench, as it can accurately be called, has an intricately built, dynamic, stainless steel, aluminum or chrome frame, on which rests an incline-decline bench with an upholstered foam cushion for comfort; weight pulleys for warm-up reps; a foot extension for leg lifts or leg weight reps; and barbell braces overhead. These Olympic weight benches are very sophisticated and generally intended for seasoned exercisers. The interesting thing is, though, that no Olympic weight bench is like any other. In this way, Olympic weight benches are inherently customized for many different possible needs. Some examples of this are the PowerTec workbench (Olympic narrow bench seating), the Fitness Quest Olympic bench, the Phoenix Power Pro Olympic bench, the Phoenix Olympic weight bench, the Olympic 4-in-1 Bench, the Olympic bench press, the Weider Olympic bench, and the Marcy Platinum Olympic weight bench.
Some Olympic benches, however, are thankfully not as complex in their design or construction. Some models feature simpler designs, such as utility benches, utility stools, and incline utility benches, the last of which is a two-piece adjustable chair set on a solid steel, crosshatched frame. These allow free weights and even warm-ups, but they aren’t necessarily intended for a multitude of exercise activities like the multi purpose benches are. Still, anyone using the simpler design can lift weights, barbells or dumbbells, in any position so desired. A few brands, such as the Fitness Olympic bench, the Marcy Olympic bench, and the Marcy Platinum Olympic bench, offer non-weight-lifting models for beginners. Because of this, Olympic bench line accommodates many different kinds of exercisers, from leisure exercisers to professional athletes. Every Olympic bench seems like a one-of-a-kind.
An Olympic weight bench can certainly be found several places throughout the Internet. Many weigh-lifting sites provide information and Olympic-style products for those interested. Prices vary, but they are reasonable. Discounts can be found, too, if the timing is right.
Anyone wanting to purchase Olympic benches is advised to know beforehand what they need so they don’t spend more money than necessary on what they really don’t need. Beginners should start out with the basic models, such as the utility benches, and then work toward the more specialized benches within time. Accessories and components like weight plates and barbell collars are sometimes provided with the weight bench sets, but are more commonly bought separately.
